The Salzburger mill family is unique in that, as far as technically possible, they are made from natural materials. The grinding stones are natural granite millstones, the grinding chamber is made of untreated beech wood, and the mill body is treated with beeswax. The mill does not contain any plastic.
One of the most powerful members of the Salzburger mill family is the MT 12 electric home mill. The most important difference between the MT 5 and MT 12 mills is the power of the motor: the MT 12 mill has a 550 W motor, while the MT 5 mill has a 360 W motor. As a result, the MT 12 mill grinds faster. The MT 5 grinds one kilogram of wheat in 10 minutes, while the MT 12 grinds it in 6 minutes.

What you should know about millstones
All Salzburger millstones are made of natural granite, making them unique among domestic electric mills.
Like all natural materials, millstones wear down with use, albeit very slowly. As they wear down, the millstones lose their roughness and become smooth. That is why millers in the old days not only ground grain, but also carved.
Granite stones also need to be sharpened from time to time. We should not try to do this at home. The Slazburger company will sharpen the stones for us free of charge during the first 12 years of the mill's life.
How often a stone needs to be sharpened depends on several factors. How often we use the mill, what grains we grind, and how finely we grind the grains. However, the stones have a long service life, so we do not have to worry about re-sharpening them every year.
Adjusting the mill
We can use a knob to adjust the MT 5 and MT 12 mills. Loosen the knob slightly, adjust the adjustment ring to the desired fineness, and tighten the knob again.
The Salzburger MT 12 mill is an excellent choice if natural materials, durability, and quality are important to us.
