Cold pressed organic olive oils from Croatia

Croatian olive oils occupy a special place among olive oils.

Olive trees, like apple trees or pear trees, are grown in several varieties. These trees have different flavours of berries and oil. Some have a stronger taste, some have a milder taste, some have different aromas, flavours and smells. Spanish or Italian oils usually contain the oil of one type of tree: arbequina, picual, hojiblanca and so on. The difference here is that the place of production also influences the taste of the oils. And of course the production method: organic or conventional.

In Croatia, however, they traditionally produce a blend of oils from different trees, which allows them to adjust the taste, aroma, flavour and aroma-flavour of the oils as they wish.

Our Croatian olive oil comes from a family farm. This oil has been "the" award-winning oil in Croatia for many years. While we were there, we also met the family, who told us that they are a small farm (2000-4000 litres of oil per year), founded by the father. Because the soil in their area is very stony, he planted the olive trees in concrete. And the olive trees thrive in the sweltering heat between the stones, which keeps the soil warm...

There are currently two types of oils.

The award-winning blend, a mixture of oils from four different types of wood (Oblica, Frantoio, Leccino, Pendolino).

And the Leccino oil itself, which is a special oil with a wonderful flavour.

Olive oils should always be stored away from light, as light destroys the oils' valuable active ingredients. For this reason, the oils are sold either in black glass jars or in metal cans.

And another little detail: the beautiful label on the Croatian oils is a design of clay vessels found in local archaeological finds.

If you come by, you can try the oils before you buy them.
